Polykleitos


Diadoumenos Diadoumenos, 430 BC.
Polykleitos chose to represent in this statue the moment the athlete binds his head with a fillet, over which the judges will place the victor's laurel wreath.
We can see again the harmonious symmetry of his Doryphoros. The body's weight is taken principally on one leg, a studied improvement by him, creating a contrast of tension and relaxation, all blended in perfection to create the necessary balance.
