The great project was constructed by Periander and it
was joining
the eastern port of Kenchreae, in the Saronic gulf,
and the western port of Lechaeon,
in the Corinthian gulf. The photograph shows just a small part of
the stone road,
on which wheeled platforms carried the ships.
